Frequently Asked Questions About
Natural Life Magazine's Digital Edition

How does the cost of a digital subscription compare to the print edition?
The cost of a digital subscription to Natural Life Magazine is quite a lot less (approximately half, depending on where in the world you're located) than that of the print edition. It also includes access to digital back issues.

Does the digital magazine contain everything in the print format: articles, photos, and advertising?
Yes, Natural Life Magazine’s digital edition is identical to the print edition, including the same great content, and the same great design as the print magazine. You won’t miss a single article, photo or advertisement.

What application will I use to read my digital magazine?
All you need is a PDF reader, such as Acrobat Reader, which you may already have on your computer or portable device. You can download the latest edition of Acrobat Reader for free. (Acrobat is perhaps not necessary and possibly redundant if you're using Safari on a Mac.) Most tablets and e-readers seem to be able to read password-protected PDFs; if not, check to see if there are apps to convert them to the format required by your reader. We are currently working on a new interface that will password-protect the site rather than individual files, which will give subscribers more flexibility in terms of reading their magazines on portable devices.

What are the advantages of subscribing to the digital edition over the print edition?
You will save money compared to the cost of a print-based subscription; save trees and lower your carbon footprint; avoid waiting for the print edition to arrive in the mail; get 24/7 online access to read, or download and save to your computer, or print articles to save; click on hypertext links taking you directly to online resources included with articles, as well as to advertiser websites. You also receive access to our back issue archive at no extra cost. These issues are not available in any other way.

Can I view a sample issue before I subscribe?
Yes, we recommend that you download a sample in order to make sure you can view the files on your device of choice. A free, password-protected back issue is available here.

How do I get my digital magazines?
When you subscribe to Natural Life’s digital edition, you will be sent a personal email from our Publisher. It will contain a password, which you will use each time you wish to access the current issue. The email will also tell you how to access the PDF files. (Please note we are currently upgrading our interface, so soon your magazines will no longer have to be password-protected, and therefore available for reading on a variety of e-readers.)

How do I get a re-set my password?
You can't currently re-set your password (although we are working on a new interface that will allow you to do that, so stay tuned). That's why we ask you to save the welcome email message that you receive when you first subscribe. If your password isn't working and you're cutting and pasting it from the welcome email, please be sure you're not picking up a space at the beginning or end. If you are typing it in, please ensure you have the numbers and letters correct, and remember that it's case sensitive. If all else fails, we'd be happy to help troubleshoot, so send an email to password@NaturalLifeMagazine.com. We will need to know which file you're trying to download, what type of device (computer or hand-held), and/or which operating system and browser you're using.

My PDF won't download; can you help me?
Our PDF files have been checked prior to being uploaded to our website, so if you have a problem downloading one, it likely originates with your computer or e-reader. There is no one format that is totally compatible with every situation, but PDFs are currently thought to be the most universal. Here are some tips if you are having problems: Google Chrome can have trouble displaying PDFs and may display a blank screen; here's a fix for that. Safari on a Mac also sometimes has problems displaying PDFs; downloading and saving them or uninstalling the Adobe plug-in can solve the problem. Otherwise, please try Firefox, Explorer, or another browser prior to contacting us. Also, updating your version of Acrobat Reader, clearing your cache, rebooting your browser, refreshing your screen, and trying the password multiple times may all help. If all else fails, we can try to help you troubleshoot the problem, but will need to know which file you're trying to download, what type of device (computer or hand-held), and/or which operating system and browser you're using.

How will I know when the new issues are published?
The email that you receive when you subscribe to Natural Life's digital edition will contain a link to a sign-up form for our free Life Media email newsletter (see also the registration form to the left of this question). Signing up for this informative newsletter will keep you updated about new additions to this website, and will include announcements at the appropriate times regarding the availability of new issues of Natural Life. If you prefer not to receive this newsletter, you can always consult the Subscriber Services page for a link to the latest issue.

Do I need to be connected to the Internet to read my magazines?
No, you only need to be connected while you download and save a magazine. After that you can take your computer anywhere and read your magazines offline. Of course, certain features such as hyperlinks in articles and advertisements require an Internet connection. And you will still need your password to access the issues.

Are back issues available? Is there a charge to access them?
Your digital subscription includes access to our archive of issues dating back to 2002. They are in PDF format and are not available in print or by single copy. To download back issues, go to the back issue index page, click on the cover graphics, and insert your password when prompted.

Why do you need my email address?
We use your valid email address to notify you when your subscription has expired, and to let you know about any changes to the way you access your subscription. You can view our privacy policy here.

Can I get a refund for my digital subscription?
We do not offer refunds for digital subscriptions.

Can I switch my digital subscription to the print edition?
We are not able to switch subscriptions from digital to print because digital subscribers have already received full access to our archive of back issues, which is worth more than the cost of a subscription. Please subscribe to the print edition.

Can I switch my print subscription to the digital edition?
Yes, we can switch your print subscription to the digital edition; you will receive twice the number of digital issues that you had left on your print subscription, plus full access to the back issue archive. Just email circulation@NaturalLifeMagazine.com with your request, and include the name and mailing address under which your print subscription is listed.

Who can I contact with additional subscription-related questions?
Send an email to subscriberservices@NaturalLifeMagazine.com if you have any questions about digital subscriptions that aren't answered on this page.
